Proteins are necessary for life and sustain nearly all of its functions.

Knowing how to forecast a protein's shape will help us better understand what it does and how it functions because a protein's shape is directly related to how it works.

Deepmind (owned by Alphabets) solves this 50 years old "protein folding problem" by designing an AI system called Alphafold. 

Our hope is that this will speed our comprehension of the inner workings of the world and how life functions at the molecular level.
